Hand
The noun ‘hand’ refers to the body part at the end of your arm, including your fingers.
‘Your hand has four fingers and a thumb.’
‘Hand’ used as a verb means to pick something up and give it to someone.
‘Can you please hand me that book?’
‘Handy’ is an adjective and means useful or skilled in a particular area.
‘She knows how to fix most things, she’s very handy around the house.’
We can also use ‘hand’ to talk about the two sides or aspects of a situation.
‘On the one hand I’d like to go out tonight, but on the other hand I’m trying to save money.’
To give someone ‘a hand’ can mean to applaud or clap to show appreciation.
‘Give her a hand, what a great performance.’
We can also use ‘hand’ to talk about asking someone to marry you.
‘She asked for his hand in marriage.’
