Ministry of Foreign Affairs delivered 861 artifacts and archeological pottery pieces and presidential properties during a celebration held at the National Museum. The pieces were retrieved from the U.S.A., Italy, and Jordan through efforts made by the Iraqi diplomatic missions.

A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received by Alforat News Agency cited "The ceremony was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Ibrahim Al Ashaiqer Al Jaafari and Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Adel Fahad Sharshab."

"Minister Jaafari said in a speech he delivered during the ceremony that MOFA was keen on exploiting all gatherings and demanded through the forums of the UN, Arab League (AL), Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and Asian-African Conference and everywhere Iraq has a statement. Those statements were defending the honor of Iraqi men and women as well as defending the Iraqi history and the value of the antiquities; those statements were accepted by some countries, especially those who have decent history," the statement continued.

"His Excellency referred that the efforts made by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities also worth mentioning and urged the concerned authorities to follow up on retrieving that historical right for Iraqis," the statement mentiond.

"The Minister stressed that the looters who stole Iraq's heritage did harm Iraq only, but, the entire world which should remember the stolen antiquities and the harm which affected this great historical legacy," the statement added.

"Dr. Jaafari reiterated that the world now realized that Iraq is in the frontline of countering terrorism to defend its and the world's peoples," the statement concluded. /End/
