The world history bears witness that the tragedy of Karbala stands unique. There is hardly any example found in histories of mankind where such sacrifices are given for the sake of truth, faith, and protection of the Deen from falling in the hands of infidels. The tragedy of Karbala is teaching the lesson that falsehood and injustice have no future. The Battle of Karbala was fought on 10 October 680 (10 Muharram in the year 61 AH of the Islamic calendar) between the army of the second Umayyad caliph Yazid I and a small army led by Hussain ibn Ali, the grandson of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, at Karbala, Iraq. Imam Hussain (a.s) is the undefeated leader and matchless soul on this earth who stood
firm till the last breath and sacrificed everything to please the lord of the universe by saving his Deen Islam from misinterpretation. The essence of Islam is justice, equality, peace, and sovereignty of Allah.
Islam embraces the righteousness and discards the false testimony. Imam Hussain (a.s) , the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), preserved Islam from an apostate and defended the codification and false interpretation. Imam Hussain (a.s) taught a lesson to mankind that giving life for protecting Islam is a sacred act. He says that death with honour is for better than life with slavery. Imam Hussain (a.s) refused to pay allegiance to Yazid because Yazid was an impure soul and had been misinterpreting religion, Islam. Yazid stood against the traditions of Prophet Muhammad (saw) and his
religion Islam. He allowed practicing all illegal acts that had been prohibited by Prophet Muhammad (saw). Imam Hussain (a.s) resisted the foul practices of Yazid at stake in his life and his progeny and family
Indeed, Imam Hussain he is the founder(Like his grandfather) of the concept of one God.There is no doubt that Imam Hussain (a.s) is the savior of humanity. He taught mankind how one gives life and achieve victory here and hereafter. The whole universe today accepts this truth that the sacrifice of Imam Hussain (a.s) is a sublime deed in the world. Though Islamic history is replete with the events of sacrifices since its inception the sacrifice of Imam Hussain (a.s) is exemplary.
All the prophets of Allah carried the sacred cause of Allah to teach human beings and mankind to follow the path of the Lord who is all sovereign and is only the creator of this whole universe. His message was accepted by the righteous and revoked by the false believers. Like all other prophets, Imam Hussain (a.s) carried the message of Allah and the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) ( his maternal father) for the superiority of Allah and followed the way of truth that he ordained. Yazid, all curse be upon him who
was disgraced by Allah Almighty, asked Imam Hussain (a.s) for allegiance. Imam Hussain (a.s) refused and defied his power and rule over the Muslims and the entire mankind. Imam Hussain (a.s) stood very strong against the Yazid ibn Muawiyah. This refusal was not tolerated by Yazid so he treacherously invited Imam Hussain (a.s) along with his family members to stay at Kufa where his father Imam Ali (a.s) is resting. Yazid ordered ibn saad all curse be upon him compelled Imam Hussain (a.s) to stay at the premise of Karbala. The land of Karbala is very hot and sandy and is totally unfavorable for humans to stay and live. Imam Hussain (a.s) along with his family members stayed at Karbala for ten days without water. He sacrificed one by one all 72 family members and including his followers for the sake of Allah. Imam Hussain (a.s) sacrifice shall never be forgotten because he even sacrificed his six-month son Asghar to please Allah. It was tenth Muharram when imam Hussian (a.s) gave his own life during prostrating in prayer. Preserved the Islam Deen of Allah and defied the falsehood of Yazidi. Yazid availed no victory in Karbala because his act was condemned by all factions of people even his own people disgraced him with contempt. Imam Hussain (a.s) carried the flag of truth, justice, and faith. His sacred sacrifice is ever remembered today though centuries have passed. Imam Hussain (a.s) is the epitome of truth and sacrifice.
